VISIONARY 5th WARD INITIATIVE GETS TRACTION

A jobs program linked with a faith based, practical, holistic, 12 week training initiative is finally getting traction. A private company in the oil and gas services industry is offering $14 jobs for those whose attitudes and work ethic indicate they are ready to interview, pass drug testing, and be employed.

For many of the applicants unemployment has been a chronic issue due to family crises and dysfunction, crime, and drugs, which means the training program is meant to be holistic and much more than just about job skills.

The program got off to a difficult start, with many of the early trainees not able or were unwilling to stick with the jobs program for any length of time.

Today the tide has turned…with added weeks to the training program, and with more support for workers after their job relocation…the number of those staying with the job has increased dramatically.

Caring Friends is an inspired, adjunct partner, a minor partner to be sure with limited commitment of time and dollars.

Tackling chronic unemployment is a huge challenge and pastor Wilford and major director Andre are LEADING THE WAY!
