Implemented by the vision and teaching of pastor Wilford Darden in the 5th Ward in Houston, and generously undergirded and extraordinarily empowered by Brand Energy Services, a biblically based, character development employment initiative is underway among Houstonians out of work and often chronically unemployed.
Hundreds have applied and are on waiting lists to take the training, with over 100 who have been through an 8 week program that promises employment for many.
If graduates pass an interview test and agree to the requirements for this $14 an hour work in Mississippi, La., or Texas, Brand will offer them a job.
Almost 40 have started work since August 2013, but many drop outs occur after being hired.
